After hearing the buzz around post about how fun Zumba is, I finally buckled down and took a class.
Can I just say wow. This combination of aerobics, hip-hop and salsa dance moves is mixed with awesome music.
The one-hour class on Tuesdays and Thursdays is jam packed with about 50-55, mostly women, with a sprinkle of men. Maria Diaz, the most enthusiastic exercise instructor I have ever encountered is the leader of this pack. The energy she gives off is comparable to five shots of espresso.
Do not mistake Zumba with one of those aerobics classes with your basic up, down, side steps. Zumba is a sweat-inducing, cardio aerobics class that has a refreshing twist and will have all body parts participating. Stop the whining and complaining about how “it’s too late” or “what’s the point at this stage.”
I’ve attended the class for about a month now and my endurance level has skyrocketed. I’ve met great people and have had a lot of fun.
Zumba is a hurt-so-good type of exercise class. Soon you’ll be inviting others to share in the pain. Whether your fitness level is a one or 10, you will fit right in.
Heed this warning, before you purchase your $4 entrance ticket to the Zumba party, make sure you are well stretched, hydrated and ready to get crunk.
